In order to develop Jhunan Science Park, MiaoLi County governments plan to expropriate the farmlands and houses in Dapu by offering far below the market value. Some local long-term residents refuse to accept this expropriation order and unwilling to hand over land rights. Sadly, the local governments fail to keep their promises and are running roughshod over people, eventually the farmland and houses are demolished roughly. Under these seemingly reasons, those DaPu residents are forced to sacrifice themself for what so-called greater being of public interests. Somehow, they are under no choice but depressingly to give up the fundamental protection to their right of ownership and tie towards this land. In fact, the issue of Dapu''s farmland being expropriated is an epitome of what could happen anywhere in Taiwan and even worldwide. Therefore, the goal of this study is to deepen the discussion on how such incident would transform and alter one’s meaning of life and livelihood In this study, information are gathered and analyzed through focus group interviews of seven selected interviews. The research will conduct a full exploration of the cause and effect on the interviews'' well-being and life complication after the DaPu Land Expropriation incident. Through this study, hope to allowing the public come to a better understanding on how the government''s imposed act on land expropriation could be lack of legitimation and inconsistent with public interest in late years, as well land is not only meaningful for its economic value but an important foundation of human existence. In this study, looks forward to a more prudent and circumspect attitude towards Taiwan''s current indiscriminately and expropriation policy, it is hoped to reduce the possible impact and influence on people and the land of Taiwan.
