In 1973, because of the upstream petrochemical industry are dependent on imports of raw materials, in order to ensure the stability of the upstream supply of raw materials, the Formosa Plastics Group intends homemade Raw materials, then for the first time to apply self naphtha cracking plant, which is six light. After a few local people and environmental groups oppose, the last village in Yunlin County to reach a consensus, so Formosa Petrochemical plant in Mai Liao Township official. After so many years of operation, Formosa Petrochemical has generated many problems, including environmental problems of air pollution and water pollution, public safety and law and order among the traffic problem is closely related to human health problems, making the local Mailiao Township residents and nearby residents banded together, although six light has also made a lot of feedback programs: such as free health checks, emergency relief care, health insurance and electricity subsidies and school after-school tutoring and so on. This paper discusses in detail six factories after light impact on local, as well as feedback on what the local program.
