| Summary: | 碩士 === 南華大學 === 宗教學研究所 === 101 === This research aims at explaining the historical development of Nanyangshengtang monastery（南陽聖堂修道院）and at exploring its innovative elements in the context of traditional flying-phoenix system. This study finds that the religious activities of Nanyangshengtang monastery are characterized by both spirituality and cultivation. It not only helps its followers resolving their problems of life crisis in secular world, but also guiding the followers to the way of cultivation by extending their ultimate care regarding the sacred world. Besides, this study also shows that this monastery is developing the organizational process of "routinized charisma" for realizing the transition from "charisma-based pattern" to institutionalized "legal-type pattern", and for attain the objective of long-term maintenance system. This characterized its innovative undertaking which is one of those distinguishing it from the tradition of flying-phoenix.
