Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to understand the differences of physiological and psychological characteristics between elite and non-elite male collegiate Taekwondo athletes. Participants were divided into either elite or non-elite group. After literature review, probable physiological and psychological characteristics of Taekwondo were induced for further field tests. Observed variables in physiological features included height, weight, age, resting heart rate, vital capacity, blood pressure, aerobic and anaerobic power, lower limb ratio, body mass index (BMI), leg muscular strength, explosive power, speed, cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility, and agility, while in psychological traits included pressure management, adversity adjustment, motivation, teachability, and confidence. Collected data were analyzed by independent t-test, and the significant level was set at α = .05. The results showed that elite group was significantly better in height, explosive power, and focus, while non-elite group showed significantly higher motivation. The rest of the variables didn’t show difference. In sum, explosive power, focus, and height were critical in Taekwondo.
