Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 光電工程學系 === 101 === In this experiment, we prove that the surface modification of TiO2 by imidazolium salt significantly enhance the solar cell efficiency of the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using the modified TiO2 as anodes.
The imidazolium salt treatment of TiO2 can improve the dark interface resistance between TiO2 electrode and electrolyte, suggesting the reduction of recombination rate of electrons and holes at the interface. This phenomenon is exactly the cause of efficiency enhancement. The experiment also shows that the open-circuit voltage and fill factor of the DSSC increase accordingly. When dye-immersing concentration was 0.2 mM, we obtained the best efficiency of 3.99%,which is twenty percent enhancement compared with the cell efficiency of the unmodified cell.
From the experiment with the treatment sequence of imidazolium salt treatment prior to the dye-absorption treatment, we found that samples after imidazolium salt treatment but with less dye absorption than that without imidazolium salt treatment can have higher cell efficiency than that without imidazolium salt treatment. This result proves that the imidazolium can have positive effect on solar cell efficiency. The imidazolium salts used must have sulfuric acid groups that exhibit the above-mentioned effect of efficiency improvement. If the imidazolium
salts do not contain sulfuric acid groups, it cannot have the result of increased efficiency.
