As the economic boom increased here in Taiwan, as well as the individual wealth multiplied, automobile is a very common mode of transportation, as for the Taxi drivers, it is a very easy business to enter into. Therefore under the current model, the Taxi Industry is very competitive, thus vastly affected the way how the Taxi Drivers make their living. As we look back upon the documentations upon large municipalities’ production growth research, as well as non urban areas in comparison. The research shows the numbers of Taxi Medallions offered in the large urban settings greatly outnumber those in the non urban areas, yet the mode of transportation greatly varied between the two settings. But most of the researches that has been completed focused mostly upon large urban cities, as oppose those of rural or suburban settings. Therefore the focus of this research is toward the need here in the greater Hualien metropolitan areas, to investigate and propose the needs of the Taxi Industry. The study will investigate from a strategic point of view for analysis, so as to use the results of this study to aid the needs of other similar medium to small markets. Over the course of this study, the team will interview many Taxi owners, and select those who will represent the image of the Taxi Industry here in greater Hualien. After our analysis, and will prove that Taxi fare is regulated, it will provide a fair territorial rights, as wells as a better Taxi drivers to riders ratio, so as to bring greater competition to the needs of this area.
