The physiological regulation of B. bankorensis by skin depends upon different temperature with different elevations. The morphological and biochemical properties of B. bankorensis skin responding to the environmental changes become interesting issue. The previous study indicated that various factors such as osmotic pressure, pH, and stress affect the different skin regulatory proteins including humidity related to heat shock proteins (Hsp) and prolactin receptor (PRLR), and skin of energy metabolism correlated to mitochondrial ATP synthase beta subunit (Atp B). However, the underlying mechanism of B. bankorensis can widely distribute in different altitudes remains unclear. From DNA sequencing data (cytochrome B) of B. bankorensis were divided into the two altitude populations, (1) All altitude (AA) and (2) Low altitude (AL), AL population was greater than the AA population in the Low altitude (< 2000 m). Similarly in high altitude AA population was greater than the AL population. The further study, male of B. bankorensis from different altitudes was collected to test whether the difference of altitude affects the structure of skin and its protein expressions. The hematoxylin and eosin staining explored that male skin of B. bankorensis between (AA and AL) at different altitudes had different morphology and distribution of glands. Furthermore the proteomic analysis of B. bankorensis in male dorsal skin found that male of dorsal skin at different altitudes showed differentially expressing proteins. In addition, Western blot confirmed differential proteins (PRLR, Hsp, and Atp B) expressed in male of B. bankorensis between (AA and AL) at different altitudes was significant difference. Heat shock protein 70 and Atp B in dorsal skin of male were found significant difference in two populations (AA and AL) of B. bankorensis at various altitudes. Prolactin receptor and Hsp90 expressions of dorsal skin in male between two populations (AA and AL) of B. bankorensis at different altitudes were also affected by different environmental factors (temperature, moisture and stress). In this study demonstrates that the difference of altitude mainly results in the different distribution of AA and AL populations at various altitudes via the alterations of skin morphology and environmental-related proteins. Dorsal skin of B. bankorensis responding to environmental changes can be monitoring of environmental indicators. Ching-Feng Weng 翁慶豐 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 89 |

Bufo bankorensis, one of poikilothermic animals, widely distributes in different altitudes of Taroko national park in Taiwan.
