碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 輔導與諮商學系研究所 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to investigate life satisfaction of the senior citizens, and understand the relationship between the correlations among senior citizens. (Gender, educational attainment, marriage condition) personality traits, learning motivation and life satisfaction. This study was conducted for 412 students in the Ministry of Education 101 school year subsidize deal with University of Ageing through a survey adopting three kinds of assessment, i.e. “personality assessment”, “learning motivation assessment”, and “life satisfaction assessment” as research tools, and the numerical data gathered was analyzed by means of statistics such as descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression. The main findings of this study were as follows: 1. The degree of the overall performance in life satisfaction among senior citizens was positive and above average. 2. Senior citizens’ background strongly affected their life satisfaction with the exception of gender and marriage condition. 3. Personality traits had a positive correlation with life satisfaction of senior citizens. 4. Learning motivation had a positive and middle-low correlation with life satisfaction of senior citizens. 5. Personality traits and learning motivation could predict the life satisfaction of senior citizens. According to the results, this study was conducted in hope of doing something worthwhile to educational institutions as well as future research.
