Stand horizontal structure method is using Weibull probability density function(PDF)simulated DBH classes distribution and horizontal-vertical structure analysis method to describe stand structure. Predecting stand growth respectively with two-way method and regression analysis method. There are 18 families, 31 genera and 60 species belong to woody plant. Fagaceae and Lauraceae are in vantage, belong to general Lauro-fagaceae association. IVI shows the predominant species in sample plot are Castanopsis carlesii, Lithocarpus castanopsisifolius,Lithocarpus amygdalifolius,Cinnamomum subavenium, Machilus zuihoensis. Woody plant ⍺ diversity index analyzed that species are abundant and more dominant species in sample plot. Individual distribution is average within dominant species, and the plant sociology composition is in co-dominant state. Stand horizontal structure patterns is center-left type, Weibull probability density function is positive skew-shaped curve, mainly as small-diameter wood. It's understory reinitiation, and stand in exuberant regeneration conditions. Fagaceae and Lauraceae are still in vantage in main canopy of vertical structure, bottom canopy are mainly Symplocaceae, Celastraceae, Rosaceae. The wood volume is estimated to be 460.48 m3ha-1, it shows that the stands in this area are still keep on growing. Varying probability sampling method estimate that the volume result 457.1 m3ha-1 stand volume by Criterion RD 1000 is the nearest to the fixed sample area. Stand growth prediction result shows that two-way method growth stand volume is 61.32 m3ha-1 among 5 years and regression analysis method growth stand volume is 101.46 m3ha-1 interval 5 years. Their converted annual average growth are both higher than Taiwan natural broadleaf forest annual average growth 6.16 m3ha-1 in the second Taiwan forest resources and landuse inventory. Our stand characteristics study of this sample plot has primary result that can provide important information reference for this area or other temperate broadleaf forests to do further study on stand dynamics and sustainable management of forest ecosystems.
