The purpose of this study is to explore the development of thematic teaching in kindergarten-based curriculum community integration. The specific objectives include:
1. To practice the processes of the action research in kindergarten-based curriculum development.
2. The difficulties that kindergarten-based curriculum development themselves confronted
3. To Use the strategies solving of the action research in kindergarten-based curriculum development.
This study uses action research. The role of the researcher is the kindergarten teacher. The main objects of this study are the young children who were taught by the researcher. As a researcher, The researcher uses of the action research, recording, video, observation records, teaching reflection, worksheets for young children, the feedback sheets from parents and co-researchers and other data collection to record the processes of this approach particularly.
The conclusions of this study are as follow:
1. The dimension (aspects) of the action processes in kindergarten-based curriculum: the implementation of the course of this study in kindergarten-based curriculum is divided into two parts.
(1) Situational analysis in kindergarten-based curriculum: teachers need to establish the kindergarten-based curriculum developing group. Teachers have to make sure the theme in based curriculum and plan the entire (whole) courses. Teachers have to construct the vision in kindergarten courses. And then, to start the kindergarten-based curriculum at the elementary with floral courses.
(2) To practice the “花の秘”( The secret of flowers) processes as in based- curriculum, the researcher would conduct four months in action research. The processes are divided into four stages as below:
A. The first stage is the floral infancy.
B. The second stage is floral leaf.
C. The third stage for the flowers bloom period.
D. The fourth stage for the floral harvest period.
In this study, the researcher designs a series of systematic course activities for young children to learn, to experience the local culture and then to cultivate young children themselves know how to care for the home town culture. After practicing each activity, there are some problems and predicaments. In pondering constantly and modifying spiral cycle adjustment, the researcher efforts to promote comply with floral supplementary kindergarten-based curriculum.
2. The predicaments that faces in the kindergarten-based curriculum development and solving strategies:
(1) The children themselves have prior knowledge differences.
(2) Professional flowers and plants workers in community which their working time is difficult to match up.
(3) Teacher lack of time and their skills in flowers and plants not enough to handle it.
(4) Administrative at school (or kindergarten) is lack of support.
(5) Community resources are hard to integrate
The researcher proposes solutions strategy after thinking deeply.
