In this thesis, a solution of an anti-light infrared proximity sensing module
is proposed. The IR receiver of the infrared proximity module encounters the
interference of sunlight and reaches saturation thereof. This causes the fact
that less transmitting pulse signals of the transmitting infrared proximity module
to the receiving end when any object is blocked. Problems are created by less
sensing distance without any received signals when the receiver is saturated.
This thesis uses the property of infrared proximity sensing and associated
colored cover by increasing the gain of the operational amplifier, programmed
microprocessor control unit and firmware modifications. Experimental results
show the measuring distance is increased with good sensitivity and achieves the
low power consumption. A solution for the anti-light issue, especially for the
sunlight outdoors is solved successfully by designed infrared proximity sensing
module.
Research result provides practical applications for outdoor electronic water
faucets under the inference of sunlight. The reliability of developed infrared
proximity sensing module is examined functionally with effective low cost and
through low power consumption.
