Through an embedded microcontroller, this study aims to control the system with immediate on/off switch, updated information of uninterruptible power supply system and the warning message while the power is in trouble or cut off. A communication module with embedded microcontroller system is utilized in this paper to develop an embedded power monitoring and control for uninterruptible power supplies, which turns on/off and monitors the input/output of uninterruptible power supply system, calculates the abnormal condition of power supply and sends “Bee” signal with warming message while the supply exceeds the standard. In the experiment, users can monitor the information and related data of the uninterruptible power supply. Comparing to the power monitor system of personal computers, the proposed embedded power monitoring and control for uninterruptible power supplies is more practical and beneficial to control more than one uninterruptible power supply system through RS-485 network.
