Questionnaire survey has been utilized as the research method and descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. The major findings of this study were summarized as the following: first, junior high school students in Taichung city have shown more positive personality traits whereas the internet addiction was found to be below average. In terms of the academic achievement, city schools performed the best while rural schools the worst. Second, there were significant differences in junior high school students' personality traits in gender and grades. Third, there were significant differences in junior high school students' internet addiction in gender, grades, and hours spent on internet. Fourth, there were significant differences in junior high school students' academic achievement in gender, grades, school districe and the hours spent on internet. Fifth, there was a significant correlation between junior high school students' personality traits and internet addiction; the personality traits of conscientiousness can significantly negative predict the internet addiction and the personality traits of neuroticism can significantly positive predict the internet addiction. Sixth, there was a significantly negative correlation between junior high school students' internet addiction and academic achievement. The suggestions, based on the findings, were proposed for teachers, schools, education authorities, and future researcher.
