The method to carry out this study was using a quasi-experimental research, which is a nonequivalent pretest-posttest design. The participants were 76 second-grade students from two classes at a senior vocational high school. The experiment group is 36 students used the teaching method of improving concept mapping, and the control group is 40 students used the traditional didactic instruction. Cooperative learning method was also utilized in both groups and the experimental sequence took about 7 weeks. The instruments used in this study included “Company Basic Accounting Concept Chapter Learning Effect Test” and “Learning Attitude Questionnaire of Applying The Improving Concept Mapping on The Teaching of The Vocational Accounting”. An independent sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The results are as follows: 1. All students of experiment group have positive learning attitude on applying the improving concept map. The students of lower level have higher positive learning attitude than the students of higher level. 2. There are significant differences between the teaching method of improving concept mapping and traditional didactic instruction. Learning effectiveness of improving concept map is superior. 3. The students of experiment group increase higher learning effectiveness after accepting the teaching method of improving concept mapping. There were significant differences between the students of lower level and higher level, and the students of lower level increase more. The findings of this study may provide further suggestions for researchers and educators in the future.
