Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 特殊教育學系所 === 101 === The major purpose of this study was to investigate and understand the current status of English Resource Room Program at the junior high schools. This study utilized the self-developed research tool that constructed from Model of Effective Instruction that proposed by Polloway, Patton, and Serna (2001). To investigate the 147 valid sample sampled from 79 participants who teaching English. And the raw data was analyzed by means of descriptive statistics. Research results were as follows:
1. The Current Situation "Management Considerations" of the English teachers
Most of the teachers use the way of "observe the performance of their students" to diagnose students' starting up and the way of "based on students' individual learning needs" to design the goal of individualized education program. Teachers most often follow the "students' ability to make individualized Design" planning curriculum, and the highest frequency of use for teachers to adapt teaching material is "adapt regular classes’ teaching material". Most of the teachers believe that "Vocabulary / Sentence / Simple grammar teaching" is important, and they group students "in accordance with the level of students' abilities." " The differences of individual " is the most common difficulties encountered by teachers when they design the goal of individualized education program or adapt teaching material .
2. The Current Situation "Instructional Practices" of the English teachers
"Grammar Translation Method", "Simplify the grade curriculum " and "based on student level adjustment task difficulty" are the frequency ways for teachers to use.
3. The Current Situation "Evaluative &; Collaborative Activities" of the English teachers
Teachers interact with regular class teacher by the way "to discuss the students’ performance or learning problems." Teachers need Schools "to provide sufficient and adequate instructional media materials or aids ", and need Education Bureau " hold research and study with special English teaching " mostly. More than 90% of teachers think they need to enrich the teaching expertise, in terms of content presents "English learning / teaching strategies" highest demand.
