Through the digital and virtual essence, taking digital images as intermediary, it displays the subjective imagination of urban surrounding. Digital media implemented, this thesis discovers the unmanned edges of urban civilization and brings the sense of hollowness into life, which interprets the modern civilization in terms of digital art expression, depicting contemporary urbanization feature- hollowness. Throughout the thesis, "Hollow City" concept is held as key concept to elaborate and describe the whole composing process and creating mental status. In contents, the article has been divided into several chapters to derive conceptual viewpoints and inner thought of the author from the process of digital image creation. To be more specific, the first chapter takes deeper survey to the author's composing motivation and mental footprints. Following with chapter 2, which involves couple of academic perspectives and references about how the author utilizes digital-oriented technics and notions to present author's personal feeling and thought toward the urban suburbs. With referring to related collections of several contemporary artists, completes the literature review. As to the chapter 3, it examines former collections of the authors', trying to figure out the conceptual vein and the possibility of further development of related expression technics. Besides, within the exploitation and exploration of digital and virtual essence, the chapter also attempts to extract social ecology and intrinsic humanism from the modern urbanization. The next chapter, chapter 4, dissects the whole series of collection of the "Hollow City", which circles and resonates with the notion of hollowness, in comparison with the piece of digital footage composed in 2012 sharing the same name. Taking the piece and the series into consideration and discussion, to contrast and combine the finding along with the outcome, corresponds with the research purpose. The last but not least, chapter 5 concludes the thesis with parallel between perspectives and pieces mentioned above, analyzing the prospection of composing research and inducting final implication. Consequently, from the chapters above, readers should be able to have a full picture both in depth and breadth about how the author utilizes digital-oriented materials to reposition digital image creation in the contemporary art, excavating its positioning and value of development, which serves ad ultimate goal of this research.
