The majority of students have their first-time internet experience before the third grade. The internet using is less than three times and within seven hours per week. The main activities on the internet for them are “recreational entertainment”, “gathering information to do their homework”, and “dating/chatting”. 2. Boys are more active on “years of internet using”, “weekly internet access”, and “weekly internet time” than girls. They prefer the “recreational entertainment” type of internet activities. On the other hand, girls spend more time on “gathering information to do their homework” than boys. 3. The sixth graders are more active on “years of internet using”, “internet sites”, and “dating/chatting” than the fifth graders. The fifth graders are more often involved in receiving and sendining “e-mail” activity. 4. Parents who hold the attitude of children internet using as “free to use without any limits”, their kids on “years of internet using” are more than six years, “weekly internet access” are between four to seven times, and more often participated in“recreational entertainment” and “dating/chatting” activities 5. Parents who constantly use the internet, most of their kids on “years of internet using” are more than six years, “weekly internet access” are more than eight times, and “weekly internet time” are more than twenty eight hours. Their internet using frequency are higher than any other children. 6. Higher the parents’ level of education, higher the ratio of students using mobile devices is shown. 7. Girls have more interaction with their parents than boys. The fifth graders are more interactive with their parents than the sixth graders. 8. Elementary school students’ online behaviors will definitely affect the parent-child relationship. Children who often engage in “social” and “education and learning” type of internet activities have a better parent-child relationship. Based on the above conclusions, I will put forward concrete proposals towards educational authorities, schools, and teachers. 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 工業教育與技術學系 === 101 === Abstract
This study aims to probe into the fifth and sixth grade students’ current status of network using behaviors after the popularity of mobile devices appears. Students’ online behaviors with their different backgrounds and any discrepancy between the parent-child relationship is also being compared.
This study adopts methods of document analysis and questionnaire survey which is using the results of literature analysis as basis. Randomly selecting the sixth grade students among twenty elementary schools in Taichung city for 101 academic year and conducted a questionnaire survey. 1,011 questionnaires were distributed, 994 valid questionnaires were retrieved, the recovery rate was 98.3%.
After collecting questionnaires and compiling data, we used SPSS19.0 statistical sofeware package for frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product moment correlation test and other statistical methods for data analysis.
Through the data analysis, the results are as follows:
1. Elementary school children internet using is still in good control.
4. Parents who hold the attitude of children internet using as “free to use without any limits”, their kids on “years of internet using” are more than six years, “weekly internet access” are between four to seven times, and more often participated in“recreational entertainment” and “dating/chatting” activities
8. Elementary school students’ online behaviors will
definitely affect the parent-child relationship. Children who often engage in “social” and “education and learning” type of internet activities have a better parent-child relationship.
Based on the above conclusions, I will put forward concrete proposals towards educational authorities, schools, and teachers.
