The first half of this paper from chapter one to chapter three is about Taiwanese women's image of Qing Dynasty which is depicted by four kinds of writers including local chronicle, common people, westerners and Japanese. The last part chapter four is comparing the difference between the Taiwanese women's image of Qing Dynasty described different writers and explaining the cause of difference from the perspective of politics, culture and history. Because Taiwanese women of Qing Dynasty do not have the right to write, all the descriptions related to women come from men’s observations and records. Those writers includes Chinese officers who write local chronicle and contracts between common people, westerners coming to Taiwan after 1860 with their diaries and Tainan Church News ,and Japanese who comes to Taiwan for custom researches in the early twentieth century. Taiwanese women of Qing Dynasty are those writers’ object for observation; however, those women they picture are obviously different. This paper is to compare and inspect Taiwanese women's image of Qing Dynasty described by different writers. Also, the causes of the difference between Taiwanese women's image of Qing Dynasty are relatives to writers’ writing motivation. First, writers of local chronicle expect to set up moral standard for women through writing local chronicles which are also taken as personal achievement of governing the region. Second, westerners’ portray of Taiwanese women is the result of the observation of cultural difference. Third, Japanese descriptions in the reports which is about Taiwanese women are constructed on the foundation that the colonialist demand the labor of colonized people. Through the discussion in this paper, we clearly see the related data which are about women of Qing Dynasty. What’s more, the political standpoint, cultural difference and the significance of history which are revealed by those data can help us to rethink the real image of Taiwanese women of Qing Dynasty.
