Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 101 === Floorplanning is the first major step in physical design of VLSI. It estimates the chip area, congestion caused by wiring and more other functionalities to the designed chip, which affect the quality of a VLSI design. With the advance of integrated circuit technology, the design complexity of VLSI is increasing. This makes floorplanning much more important. In this research, we present an evolutionary algorithm called ‘Electromagnetism-like Mechanism (EM)’ based on B*-tree representation for floorplanning problem. EM is a population-based algorithm which is based on the electromagnetism-like theory. By simulating charged points attracted or repulsed to each other and the force between them, it will move the points towards the optimality. We have carried the experiments on the MCNC benchmarks and the results show that our approach has better solution quality.
