One design is a ray-leakage-free sawtooth-shape planar lightguide solar concentrator, and the other one is a lighting-bar backlight modules with uniform luminance. The key concept of the design of solar concentrator is guiding ray in the lightguide by the parallel boundary that constructed by the suitable arrangement of the micro dimpled structure with the sawtooth-shape boundary of the lightguide. With the design concept, this thesis gives a ray-leakage-free solar concentrator with 2300x- geometrical concentration ratio. The key concept of the design of lighting-bar backlight modules is using a lighting-bar with dimple-plate structures in the backlight modules. The dimple-plate structure successfully prevents the terrible common ray leakages of the lighting-bar bottom. At the same time, the proposed lighting-bar backlight modules can reduce the module cost, since it can achieve luminance standard without using brightness enhancement films. With the lighting-bar design, this thesis provides a design of large thin lighting-box, which processing vertical viewing angle of 70 degrees, lateral viewing angle of 100 degrees, and luminance uniformity of 94.78%
