Because the content of “Aquilaria Resin” is enough for a long time, its density is bigger than water and sinks to the bottom. In the Taiwan market, the price of the agarwood is dependent of the content of aquilaria resin. The amount of the resin can be submerged by sinking to the bottom that is called “Full-Submerged”. The type of commodity is a lot more expensive than the price of half floating in the water. “Semi-Submerged” price much higher than the fully floating, board wood, on the water.
In Taiwan, the transaction of agarwood will not really take the water to test the goods level. But, sinking water or not has become a simple communication concept for the classification of products. Good or bad depends on products; the more commonly used method by fire. Fire temperature makes resin boiling and bubbling. Aquilaria resin contained enough of the bubble more and more. Another advantage is that with direct fire burning while allowing customers to smell the scent of incense.
There are eight aquilaria genus of plants have been included in the World Conservation Union (IUCN) Red Data Book of endangered plants threatened (threatened) grade. Among them, there are six kinds of genus are caused because of over-harvesting agarwood.
