The most effective way to solve this problem is to introduce corrosion inhibitors to the electrolyte solution. In the past, mercury was used as a successful inhibitor because it can enhance the over-potential of hydrogen evolution and thus inhibit the corrosion of zinc. Since mercury is now for bidden to be used in batteries due to its toxicity, environment friendly substitutes for mercury need to be developed. In previous reports, polyethylene glycol 600(PEG 600), polysorbate 20(Tween 20), imidazole (IMZ), sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)were used as composite corrosion inhibitor of zinc in alkaline solution respectively. In this paper, we compared the inhibition performance of the five inhibitors to the corrosion of zinc anode in zinc-air battery. With the respect of structure and feature of materials, Surface of Zinc electric poles are observed by Scanning electron microscope and was analyzed their structure of crystal. Regarding the testing of battery performance, it proceeds the fixed current discharging test and open circuit potential tst and tafel polarization test and cathodic polarization test by electric-chemical analyzer on condition of 1 atm / 25℃. It hopes to construct the correlation in between zinc anode and corrosion inhibitors to enhance the approach of the optimum composition. The optimum composition of the corrosion inhibitors obtained on the method of mixture design. The minimum corrosion current density of a corrosion inhibitor was experimental obtaines of 51.67 μA•cm-2. For the two composition of corrosion inhibitors the optimum contents of the Tween and IMZ were 0.47:0.53, and the minimum corrosion current density was obtained of 38 μA•cm-2. For the three composition of corrosion inhibitors the optimum contents of the PEG and Tween and IMZ were 0.267:0.567:0.167, and the minimum corrosion current density was obtained of 37.08 μA•cm-2. Using to tafel polarization test developed in this thesis the corrosion current density for the composition of corrosion inhibitors, and according to software analysis developed the corrosion current density in this work were correlated well with the experimental results.
