Rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings including five indica cultivars: TCN1, TCS10, TCS1, KHS2, KHS7 and twelve japonica cultivars: KH139, KH145, TK5, TK8, TK9, TK14, TK16, TNG67, TNG71, TN11, TT30 and Nipponbare were used in this experiment. The Cd treatment caused reduction in length of root and shoot. The MDA contents in the shoot, 2nd leaf and 3rd leaf are increased significantly after CdCl 2 treatment for 0, 3, 6, 9 days. It’s suggested oxidative stress happened under Cd treatment and is further used as the indicator for Cd toxicity in this study. The Cd contents in the shoot, 2nd leaf and 3rd leaf are increased significantly after CdCl 2 treatment for 3 days. And also further determination different location of mineral element with Cd treatment. Observed that the mineral element content all resulted in a decrease tendency, except the content of Ca, K, Mn and Fe in the 2nd leaf. It’s probable that the 2nd leaf is an old leaf in 3-days-old rice seedling, so that have no significant decrease.
