Previous study suggested that the increase of dietary fiber intake could be additive for blood lipid-lowering. For this reason, there are many blood lipid-regulating products available in market. The present study was to investigate the effect of resistant maltodextrin formula product on blood lipid-regulating in hamster model. Hamsters were fed by high-fat diet containing 15% fat (5% soybean oil, 10% butter) and 0.2% cholesterol to induce hyperlipidemia, then given the dietary fiber product at different dosages for 8 weeks. Our results showed that compared with HF group, medium and high dose groups could significantly (p < 0.05) decreased serum triglyceride (14.4-15.9%), serum total cholesterol (13.5-22.7%), HDL-C (10.7-16.6%) and LDL-C (19.4-48.7%). Furthermore, HDL / TC ratios were slightly elevated in the medium and high dose groups, however, significant (p < 0.05) decreases in LDL / TC and LDL / TC ratios were observed . On liver lipids and fecal moisture content, there was no obvious effect on liver cholesterol concentration. However, compared with HF group, liver triglycerides were significantly (p < 0.05) decreased by 16-31% in medium and high dose groups. Meanwhile, fecal moistures content were significantly (p < 0.05) increased by 10-13%. With the liver lipids being reduced, the liver weights were slightly decreased. Overall, it was confirmed that the resistant maltodextrin formula product could moderate blood lipid and had dosage effect. In addition, it also had an ability to lower liver lipids and increase fecal water content. These findings could be useful for confirming the effective dosage of the resistant maltodextrin formula product. 周志輝 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 55 zh-TW
