Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 科技管理研究所 === 101 === Technological innovation is the most important driver of enhancing firms’ competitiveness. Prior research has paid attention on the relationship between technological innovation and firm performance, but hardly incorporate knowledge sharing and social capital into consideration. Therefore, this paper attempts to explore three main questions. First, how is the influence of knowledge sharing within the firm and with external partners on firm performance through technological innovation strategy? Second, how is the effect of social capital with external partners on firm performance through technological innovation strategy? Final, how technological innovation strategies affect the customer satisfaction and financial performance of the firm?
This paper built and tested a theoretical model linking internal knowledge sharing, external knowledge sharing, and external social capital with firm performance via technological innovation strategy, which consists of collaboration, in-house R&D, and outsourcing strategy. Using survey data from two hundred and nine technology-based firms in Taiwan’s Science Park via a postal questionnaire survey, the results of this paper indicates that knowledge sharing within the firm is positively related to the in-house R&D strategy of technological innovation the firm develops; knowledge sharing with external partners is positively related to the collaboration and outsourcing strategy of technological innovation the firm develops; and social capital with external partners is positively related to the collaboration strategy of technological innovation the firm develops. The firm’s collaboration and in-house R&D strategy of technological innovation is positively correlated with the customer satisfaction and firm’s financial performance.
