Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 環境工程學系所 === 101 === The manufacturing process of adhesive tape industry needs to use large amounts of organic solvents. It’s one of the main sources of emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in Taiwan. Activated carbon adsorption and incineration are currently used to reduce VOCs in adhesive tape industry. In order to understand the characteristics of VOCs emissions, four manufacturing processes in adhesive tape industry which equipped with activated carbon adsorbent or regenerative thermal oxidizer were chosen as a case study. The species composition and concentration of VOCs were measured in this study. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of VOCs emissions and removal efficiency of control equipment. Furthermore, to analyze the benefits of choosing the suitable VOCs emissions control technology.
The results showed the major VOCs components were toluene and ethyl acetate from adhesive tape manufacturing process and toluene from release paper manufacturing process. The removal efficiency of VOCs by using activated carbon adsorption in adhesive tape manufacturing process was 92.6%, and two regenerative thermal oxidizers were 96.9% and 97.9%, respectively. Furthermore, the efficiency for the release-paper manufacturing process by using activated carbon adsorption was up to 99.4%. All of the results complied with the emission standards (92%), but removal efficiency of adhesive tape manufacturing process by using the activated carbon adsorption was lower than those of the other processes. After comprehensively analyzing the characteristics of VOCs emissions, the removal efficiencies, the emission standards and the benefit of reducing air pollution fee, the release paper manufacturing process can use activated carbon adsorption to remove and recycle toluene. However, the regenerative thermal oxidizer is more suitable for the use of removing VOCs in adhesive tape manufacturing process.
