Summary: | 碩士 === 明志科技大學 === 經營管理系碩士班 === 102 === It is well-accepted that investing in employee training and development benefits business and its workforce alike; and as the continuously changing work environment made cyclical training necessary, on-the-job training has been considered to be the most effective training method. Job-specific training seeks to improve workers’ effectiveness in their current positions and permits them to perform at some standard quality level; training programs may also help employees in their career planning and monitoring their personal progress. In addition to enhancing workers’ skills to match the company’s needs, a company would like to be able to retain such competent employees. In general, organizational socialization is known to help galvanize the relationship between an organization and its employees. This research looks into the inclusion of organizational socialization elements – specifically, through role playing – in the job training programs. In this study, a role-play component was designed and implemented in an ICT service company’s training program. The new training process (with role-play) was assessed and compared with the old process (without role-play). The comparison suggests that while the old training program was effective in elevating employee skills, role play could help employees focus on skills that are specific to their jobs; and role play also help employees to better appreciate the company culture as well as fellow coworkers, and thus increasing the desire of remaining with the company – as what organizational socialization claimed would.
