Taiwan is one of the world's largest provider of TFT–LCD panels, second only to Korea. For this important industry, to meet profitable automated manufacturing processes, it is required to have one intelligent transition process. Thus this thesis focuses in the plate transition process of TFT/LCD industry. In order to transport these glass plates among equipments, LCD glass-handling robots, stocker cranes and conveyors are used. Especially, the glass-handling robots are the most fundamental transport devices. However, the price of the robot is very expensive. This thesis has found a cheap, reliable and flexible method for the plate transition process, which uses the conveyor to transport the panels in the system that is called the Panel Handling System (PHS). PHS is a big system which is able to transport the panels by conveyors. The purpose of the thesis is to simulate its operation based on the flexible and appropriate simulation software. The thesis has developed the software by GUI–MATLAB, which includes the quality inspection, auto–selection, auto–transmission & storagement.
