Summary: | 碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 化學工程與材料科技系碩士班 === 101 === A bamboo activated carbon is made from the waste bamboo chopsticks in this study. The bamboo chopsticks is carbonized in 450℃ at the beginning, then followed by activated at different temperatures(ie. 550℃, 650℃, 750℃, and 850℃) to prepare the bamboo activated carbons(BAC). The surface properties of the bamboo carbons made by different activation temperatures are analyzed by BET and SEM. The function groups on the surface of the bamboo carbons are also measured by FT-IR. The series of the BACs are tested in the conditions with 3%O2 and without O2 to investigate the NO reduction characteristics. The BAC made in the activated temperature of 850℃ was also tested through the thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) to study the interrelation between TGA and NO reduction.
The results show that the NO conversions of the BACs are higher than a commercial coconut activated carbon(AC). The specific surface areas, pore volumes, and function groups of the BACs are increased with the increasing activation temperatures, and will result in higher NO conversions. The BAC with the activation temperature of 850℃ presents the best NO conversion efficiency. Its NO conversion reach to 94.9% in the reaction conditions of 3%O2 and 330℃. Also, its NO conversion is 88.5% in the reaction conditions of 450℃ and without O2. The life time experiments of the NO reduction by BAC catalysts are conducted in this study. It is discovered that the life of the BAC as a catalyst is longer in the conditions without O2 than the condition 3%O2. It shows that the decreasing of the NO conversion of the BAC is only 10% after a 300min experiment in the condition without O2.
