A successful theme tourist area should explicitly create clear characteristics of its spirit of place as well as building up its multi-layer values. Based on the literature reviews and summarized the analyses of 4 oversea case studies, 6 core values of spirit of place including environment value, culture value, emotion value, art value, innovation value and experience value were inductively generated.Field observations and in-depth interviews were applied to analyze spirit of place of the Monster Village, an emerging theme tourist area in Taiwan. How these 6 core values influenced the Monster Village was verified. Research results showed that the theme of the Monster Village in Taiwan was successfully built up. The 6 values of spirit of place of the Monster Village were also included in the spatial characteristics of the place. However, the 6 values were not thoroughly packaged accordingly. If the Monster Village could be re-planned and renovated based on the 6 values of spirit of place, it will become one of the collectively memorized attractions and induce its spiritual resonance to strongly present its spirit of place.
