consuming power of the citizens, society gradually put more emphasis on
pursuing recreational lifestyle which as a consequence, had stimulated the
development of tourism industry. The business district in old streets with
vintage nostalgia had regained attentions and had become popular destination
for travelers. Among those, the once desolated Jiufen old street business
district had revived and reinvented itself into top tourist attraction due to the
impacts of the blockbuster “A City of Sadness” as well as other media effects.
It had combined multiple perspectives, such as consumer’s and cultural
recreation. Full of cultural connotation’s local characteristics and the industry
background, Jiufen had brought up the economy of the area.
This research had conducted questionnaire survey based on satisfaction
analysis, environmental image analysis and differentiation test. The result
meaning that though many efforts were observed in the layout and window
design of the shops in Jiufen, the positioning and differentiation of the
products are things need to be worked on. We also shows that the major
attraction of Jiufen is its nostalgic atmosphere, however the hygiene and
cleanness of the environment, which is often neglected during the phase of
development, could be the orientation for future visual design.
We also uses factors to analyze, generalize, and condense the
environmental images to cozy and comforting, retro and nostalgic, familiar
and beautiful, as well as prosperous civilized. Along with using visual
designs to make plans for Jiufen’s old streets, the less satisfied part and
strengthen the most satisfied part should be worked on.
