The interviews cover the development techniques and feasibility issues faced in land reuses, so as to assess their feasibility and provide references for public sectors’ future coastal land planning. Results show that coastal salinized land reuses fall into four categories: man-made land elevation, greenhouse cultivation, sheep husbandry, plain afforestation. Among them, man-made land elevation enjoys the largest proportion and popularity, for its superior adoptability in land sizes, promising prospect of payback in the first year and effective durability of up to 10 years. The most profitable investment goes to greenhouse cultivation, which brings a handsome revenue from a not necessarily large land. However, it demands high in capital investment, excluding the average farmers from getting involved. Although sheep husbandry is not bad in profiting, it features a high technical threshold. Unlike farming, the average farmers are unlikely to be engaged. Afforestation, with the subsidies from Sixth Naphtha Cracking Plant, has won more farmers’ favorable support, but again it requires a large land in order to obtain an acceptable income. With Farmers’ Association offering technical guidance, township government helping farmers deal with various government grants and applications, farmers are well supported in the salinized land reuses. The interviewed farmers and herdsmen have expressed optimism for the future investment, but the rural area is faced with the population aging problem and labor shortages. Besides, salinized land reuses require investment funds, which are difficult for farmers to obtain. They have to leave their land as a pledge. Therefore, they urgently need government and the Farmers’ Association to provide low-interest loans and improve the level of all grants to consolidate farmers’ commitment in the costal salinized land reuse businesses, and to solve the desolation problem due to cultivation difficulties in coastal region of Sihu Village.
