In chapter 1, the author gives a broad overview of the working place. Being aware of the significance of knowledge management, the author desires to apply knowledge management model to the organization in order to improve the competitiveness in face of economic globalization. Therefore, rising research questions are as follows: How to make knowledge management vitally important to enhance the organization’s competitiveness? Is the application of knowledge management suitable with the current situation of the organization? In order to deal with questions, in chapter 2, the author collects primary data from academic sources such as basic theories on knowledge, competitiveness and other knowledge management models from former authors to identify the roles of knowledge management in the competitiveness of the organization/ business. The author deeply analyzes these data to seek for a reasonable theory model to be applied to the organization. With the aim of understanding thoroughly about the status quo, perception and individual evaluation about issues such as information technology infrastructure, demand and staff’s satisfaction in value recognition, learning & training and leaders’ viewpoints about management within the organization, in chapter 3 the author chooses research strategies namely quantitative analysis method (survey questionnaire) and qualitative analysis method (interview leaders) to find out the nature of matters and inherent problems. The total of collated data are encoded and inserted into the SPSS 16.0 software for being analyzed. Statistics are indicated on charts and graphs to evaluate the trust of data objectively. In chapter 4 and chapter 5, on the basis of the organization’s current situation as well as analyzed data, the author comes to the conclusion and recommends the practicability when the knowledge management model is applied to the Research Institute of Electronic Technology under Ministry of Public Security.
