This study therefore proposes an approach based on the fuzzy sets theory to evaluate the quality teacher. The 6 major evaluation criteria (1/ teaching ability, 2/classroom management, 3/teaching attitude, 4/ classroom atmosphere, 5/parent-teacher relationship, and 6/teaching assessment; 55 sub-criteria) are derived from the methods of literature review and interview. Method of questionnaire is conducted to 78 students from 7th, 8th and 9th grade of a junior high school in Kaohsiung city to assess the importance weights of evaluation criteria and the priority ratings of four selected teachers. The ambiguity and uncertainty in evaluation procedures are dealt with the linguistic variables parameterized by triangular fuzzy numbers. The analysis results reveal that a quality teacher should possess traits such as(1)keep promises,(2)respect students’ opinion and feeling, (3)give students the opportunity for correction,(4)as a model for the students,(5)impartial as well as emotionally stable, able to distinguish between personal issues and work,(6)able to impart to students very clearly the results of bad or good influence when analyzing a certain matter,(7)professional and creative,(8)respects the differences between students,(9)not judging students based on their test scores, and(10) able to engage students in the process of teaching, no personal attack in the process of discussion or debating. Aforementioned criteria are the most 10 important considerations in order to help teachers understand what junior high school students have in mind the characteristics of a quality junior high school teacher. According to the result of this study, teacher M was rated as a quality teacher. This study suggests that the teachers could learn to improve their shortcomings and drawbacks so that they can enhance their teaching quality to fulfill the requirements of students.
