After the impact of financial liberalization and internationalization, the business environment of banking industry in Taiwan full of crisis and a turning point. The purpose of this study is to measure overall managerial efficiency of banking industry between Taiwan and China. Using data envelopment analysis (DEA) method, this study selects sample period from 2007 to 2011, which calculated as a measure of the efficiency on a five-year average basis from 31 and 17 banks in Taiwan and China, respectively. The results of the research are as follows: 1. One-third of banks in Taiwan is overall efficiency. However, two-third of banks lies in relative no efficiency. Half of banks in China is relative no efficiency. 2. After combing banks of Taiwan and China, this paper finds that only 3 banks in Taiwan are overall efficiency excluding macroeconomic factors. However, nine banks in China are overall efficiency. 3. In addition, some banks in Taiwan transfer from efficiency to no efficiency. 4. The overall result of this research indicates that China banks’ performance is better than Taiwan banks in managerial efficiency.
