However, some of arrester will be deteriorated gradually in consequence of the environmental conditions, which will increases the internal resistance leakage current and third order harmonic of the arrester, that cause thermal run away and even made into arrester explosion, and thus lose protection. Use of manpower for maintenance outage time-consuming and laborious because of huge number of power system arrester and power failure detection time is shorter, therefore, this paper presents the use of microprocessor technology and GPRS technology to achieve real-time online monitoring to measure and detect leakage current of arrester. Onsite measurement unit select Dspic33F microprocessor as core processor, that used of its ADC and Capture functions and operation with fast fourier transform. Onsite measuring data is collected and transmitted by embedded system via RS-485 through GPRS. This thesis were made a reference to resistive leakage monitoring of current domestic and international, and propose the method of online monitoring system for the structure.
