However, companies also face a lot of uncertainty of the market, technology and customer demand from external environment, and also the funds, personnel and management within enterprise. In order to effectively build competitive advantage through creating new product, companies must select the correct new product development process model (NPDP), and apply product management process to monitor, measure and evaluate performance of the new product development process for improving quality of products and processes. In this study, we use DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method to establish a NPDP performance evaluation system with four dimensions and 16 key process performance index based on project management aspect. Empirical analysis illustrated that the dimension “new product development project management” is the overall impact source to other dimensions, and the dimension “new product development process” is the ultimate source being affected. Therefore, the effective project management is an important factor to ensure the NPDP quality.
