The control group was given a pamphlet related gynecologic laparotomy as usual. We examined outcome indicators before nursing intervention and follow up at one hour after nursing intervention. The results indicated that following a Mann-Whitney U test for pre and post test differences comparison, the results indicated that participants in the multimedia education group were had a lower state-trait anxiety (p < .001) and VAS anxiety (p < .001), when compared with the pamphlet group. The Wilcoxon test indicated that participants in the pamphlet group, had a lower state-trait anxiety (p < .001) and VAS anxiety (p < .001) when compared with the pre test.
