Utilization rate of PCA in the document hospital has been stalled at about 12%, less than their goal of 15-17%. Lately the utilization rate began to decline, thus this study aimed to investigate the management performance of PCA, review and refine its business strategy, improve its utilization rate, striving to better private medical services of PCA and overall revenue of document hospital. Method: Combined with organizational performance management and modification of marketing strategy, cost-benefit analysis and sensitivity analysis method were conducted to construct a cost-spreadsheet model of PCA, bring up a brand-new "one-day PCA” service in addition to “three-day PCA”, compare "cost-free" and "hospital buyout" strategy of PCA pump procuremet, enhance the cost-effectiveness of PCA operation, and expand the subjects scope of PCA service. Results: This research showed that PCA has a high net present value, an exceptional benefit-cost ratio of 2.44 as well as good financial advantages, and also shows great resistance to unfavoring cost issues. PCA also contribute significantly to the satisfaction rate of surgical patients and medical care quality. In accordance with market segmentation, an integral medical project, which is composed of "One-day PCA" and "three-day PCA", will enhance the overall capacity and quality of the PCA service and meet instantaneous analgesic needs of surgical patients, reaching a win-win situation. In appraisal of different PCA pump investments, the alternative "hospital buyout" strategy of pump procurement doesn’t possess additional financial advantage or significant competitive potency over the original “free-cost” strategy, implying that "free-cost" strategy is suitable for current medical environment. Conclusion: PCA can make excellent profits. It is recommended for PCA protmotion to maintain the present "free-cost" pump procurement strategy, unite “one-day PCA” and “three-day PCA” into a whole, and exercise modern marketing to promote the efficiency of PCA usage.
