Description
Summary:碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of the process of integrity among the senior citizens in Taiwan and the process of social-oriented and individual-oriented self-identity. A purposive sampling has been established with 5 senior citizens between the age of 66 to 90. Data gathered in the interviews was analyzed with qualitative data analysis, found out 3 types of integrity. They are: conform to the trend, the influence of others, and self-confirmation. The study found the integrity of the Chinese is not radically divided into social-oriented integrity and individual-oriented integrity but blend with each other. The premises of the blend are the recognition of the environmental condition and self needs in life plus the belief in self- ability and potential. The advantage of the blend is (1) Relieve stress and anxiety in life. (2) The control of life and keep their own personality traits. (3) Complete the responsibilities of important roles. (4) Exert one’s potential. (5) Develop the abilities and characteristics which optimize the individual and one’s life. (6) Reserve the financial basis after retirement. The help of the blend on the adaptation is to moderate the conflicts between the role and inner self needs.
