Four hundred and two full-time students, including 142 males and 260 females, were recruited from the Hsinchu area, Taiwan in this study. The average age for this study is 19 years old. The questionnaire that includes body image, weight-control information source, weight-control beliefs, weight-control behaviors, and The Colons Figure Scale have been administered. The findings of the study are as the followings: (1) Sixty-four percent of male subjects and seventy-five percent of female subjects have overestimated their body shape, and expected their body shape to be less than their actual shape, especially for female students. (2) Eighty-five percent of male subjects and seventy-three percent of female subjects are concerned in their self-image about figure and appearance, especially these images reflect in the social interaction and working settings. (3) These male subjects have been more concerned on their appearance than the females, the reason why they believe their appearance and figure will improve their interpersonal relationships and their own professional impression. (4) Male subjects have a more positive strategy in weight control, for example, use exercise. The males have more satisfied with their weight control than the female subjects in this study. The implications of this study finding have been further discussed. Lin,Rueicin 林瑞欽 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 100 zh-TW
