Comorbidity of Illicit Drugs Abuse With Borderline Personality Disorder

碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study is to investigate the borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders between the illicit drug abusers. Then investigate the difference in Drug Using Behavior between the comorbidity groups. Those data of male (N=200) and female (N=200) drug abusers were collected from Hsinden, and Taichung, Treatment Centers and Tauyuan, and Taichung Woman Prisons. The Drug using behavior and personality disorders measurement include the Illicit Drugs Abuse Questionnaire (Lin, 2010), the HPH (The Health, Personality, and Habitual Scale, Kou & Chang, 1999). The result findings were as the follows: 1. the prevalence rate of borderline personality within the drug abusers is 16.5%. 2. These drug abusers who are categorized as the borderline personality disorder have been found a high comorbidity rate with the other personality disorders except the obsessive personality disorder. 3. The comorbidity of dependent and narcissistic personality is not highly overlapping between the female abusers with the borderline personality disorder. 4. There is no gender difference between the prevalence of borderline personality disorder. 5. Those drug abusers who are categorized as the borderline personality disorder combined with the other personality disorders shows a lower average age, higher cannabis using rate, more relative or friends using drug, higher alcohol using trend, persist in longer drug using, and using drug in younger age. 6. No gender differences have been found in drug use behaviors of those drug abusers were categorized as the simple borderline personality disorder with the non-personality disorder groups. 7. When the other personality disorders were rule out, the borderline personality disorder seems not highly relative to the drug using behavior. 8. The definitions of various kinds of personality disorder are seemingly highly overlapping, that might confuse the main effect of the borderline personality. The implications of this work for the further treatment with drug abusers have been also discussed.
