In 1960, after completing his studies in France, composer Hsu Tsang-Houei, who was later generally regarded as one of the highest music authorities in Taiwan, debuted a concert that brought the audience in Taiwan a groundbreaking approach which combined Western avant-garde music with elaborate traditional Chinese elements. His compositions also contained an innovative sound, impacting the audience immensely. The year 1960 was a turning point, dawning a new era of modern music in Taiwan.
In addition, an overview of modern music in Taiwan outlines how piano music developed through the years. Moreover, a more personal interpretation of this collection of work that spans the ages will be presented.
