Many faithful fans love her works because her works are always reflecting the Japanese social issues. Besides the study of literariness, this thesis studied about the contemporary Japanese society by the works of Kirino Natsuo. This thesis will introduce how Kirino’s writing style changes from Mystery fiction to Social Novel by studying the three works of “Yawaraka na hoho”(1999), “Gurotesuku”(2003), “Metabora”(2007). The first chapter focuses on “Yawaraka na hoho” which is explaining the turning of Kirino’s writing style. It also describes psychological change and spiritual growth of the heroine, a mother whose daughter is missing. The second chapter focuses on “Gurotesuku” basing on “Toutenn OL Satujinn Jikenn”(1997). It reflects the Japanese social problems vividly by describing heroines’ ambitions and the social inequality cannot be destroyed. The third chapter focuses on “Metabora” telling about the teenagers of 2000s is living in the social inequality. These teenagers face the problems of family’s collapsing and the instable life of freeters or dispatched Workers. Although the key point in this chapter is the family’s issue, it also discusses the problem of Japanese increasing poverty. This kind of phenomenon makes readers feel ironic about the “freedom” advocated by capitalism. Hence, I emphasized the Family and the social inequality to do my study. Kirino’s works have the same feature of not defining an absolutely ending. I consider that Kirino hopes readers using their imagination to create their own possibilities of ending. For example, the three works I used in this thesis, the main characters are from a broken family. Kirino is good at writing the issues of family, society, and life in her works. Her writing style making readers do creative thinking becomes her special attraction. Sakamoto Saori 坂元小織 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 97
