Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 光電學系 === 101 === This thesis focuses on studying the surface morphology of the polymer structure, being constructed under different liquid-crystal phases and ultra-violet light intensity: (1)low ultra-violet light intensity(~100 μW/cm2)/isotropic liquid phase; (2) low ultra-violet light intensity/amorphous blue phase; (3) low ultra-violet light intensity/cubic blue phase; (4) low ultra-violet light intensity/chrial nematic phase; (5) high ultra-violet light intensity(~5 mW/cm2)/ amorphous blue phase; (6) high ultra-violet light intensity/ cubic blue phase.
In different polymerization processes, there are three experimental results are observed in this thesis: (1) the temperature range of blue phase become narrow after polymerzation; (2)the temperature range of amorphous blue phase remains before and after polymerization, but the temperature range of cubic blue phase would be double (~15 °C) after polymerization; (3) the temperature range of amorphous blue phase remains before and after polymerization, but the temperature range of cubic blue phase would be extend over 60 °C after polymerization. By studying the morphologies of the polymer-network structures in these samples, one will know that for blue phase with 60C the diameter of the polymer chain is less than 50 nm and the polymer network is denser. The conlusion in this these will show the relation between the morphology of the polymer network and the temperature range of the different blue phases.
