Whether to adopt the environmental policy or not? The relationship between manager’s characteristic and the company performance

碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 會計學系 === 101 === The key factor for the corporation to manipulate environmental policy effectively is the support of its senior manager. This research aimed at the domestic publicly traded company that has already implemented environmental policy (environmental accounting, environmental certification). This research has conducted 103 environmental policy samples, and has carry out path analysis in a ratio of 1:2 among the near sample size through the same industry. The result confirmed that the characteristics of the executives working in those environmental policy- implemented corporations do not include compensation inducement. moreover, the result also points out that the executives tend to increase their shareholding ratio to share the prosperity of the corporation, which fits the alignment effect. This research also finds out new performance-effected factor: there is a positive relationship between company performance and those company which has implemented environmental policy. To combine all the description above, investors can set an indicator about environmental policy to decide if a corporation is pursuing sustainable development. Investors can also make policy decision through this viewpoint of executive characteristic, and to supervise cooperation to carry out environmental policy.
