Apart from internal aspects of entrepreneurship, such as motivation, opportunity perspective, and alertness, there are external aspects that affecting entrepreneurship, such as the industrial cluster. By comparing the machinery companies located inside and outside the industrial district in Taichung, Taiwan, this study aims to explore the cluster effects on the entrepreneurship of companies in machinery industry. This study suggests three main factors that affecting the entrepreneurship. The first factor is the “competition” in the industrial cluster, which is defined as the competitive advantages that companies gain in form of demand effects and diversified strategies. The second factor is the “embedded-ness”, which is related to the quality of company relations (relational embedded-ness) and ranges (structural embedded-ness) with the industry components (universities, customers, complementary, etc.) that affecting knowledge transfer and knowledge generations. The third factor is the “specialized knowledge”, which is shared inside the industrial cluster. Because of the converge of similar industry companies in the close ranged areas, the “specialized knowledge” related to the industry are collected inside the area in form of the specialized skill labor and specialized new technology. This study finds that when compared to company outside the cluster, generally industrial cluster have positive effect on the entrepreneurship. Also, “relational embedded-ness” factor have significant impacts on the entrepreneurship which believed would affecting the adaptation ability of company, the factor of “competition” has partial influence on the entrepreneurship.
