Based on the mental and physical development, and learning characteristics of two to six-year-old children, the research sampled 100 picture books related to children life education and analyzed the topics, storylines, characters, backgrounds, words, pictures, and other literature factors for clues to the four dimensions. Furthermore, it built a database of 100 picture books on children life education as reference for relevant departments and personnel. The researcher applied content analysis to sort out the pages of the 100 sampled books which correspond to the four dimensions of children life education, completed a cross-reference chart (Appendix 5), and chose 54 picture books for further investigation. The results go as follows: Firstly, self and ego: The results demonstrate that in the dimension of self and ego, the 25 selected picture books relate more to self-understanding, accepting oneself, building oneself, and appreciating oneself in relevance order. Secondly, self and others: The results show that in the dimension of self and others, the content of the 25 selected picture books pertains more to love and care, and then in order of relevance, accepting dissidents, appreciating others, and group life. Thirdly, self and environment: The research finds that in the dimension of self and environment, the implications of the 25 chosen picture books relate more to closing with nature, and then by relevance, respecting nature, humanistic care, and protecting nature. Fourthly, self and universe: The study finds that the content of 25 selected picture books pertains more to permanent value, and then beauty of life, understanding life and death, and religious beliefs in life in relevance order. According to the conclusions above, the study proposes advice for education workers, children’s parents, book publishers, and future researchers. Chu-Shin Lin 林楚欣 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 252 zh-TW
