Summary: | 碩士 === 健行科技大學 === 中亞研究所 === 101 === There are close political and economic relations between China and Kazakhstan. The border between the two countries is up to 1700 km. The Silk Road has tightly bound the two countries since centuries ago. Special historical background of China and Kazakhstan and geopolitical relations, as well as cross-border ethnic minority in Xinjiang with special background on their race, culture, language and religion, have profound impacts on the bilateral political and economic development.
The end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union have resulted in the situation changed radically to Central Asia, and also makes China’s policy in Central Asia become more positive. Especially Kazakhstan is rich in natural resources, industrial and animal husbandry, a strong industrial base left by the Soviet Union, andis located in Eurasia favorable strategic position. China''s important westward foreign policy is to strengthen close cooperation with Kazakhstan, to access to the Kazakh strategic resources, so as to develop the Central Asian market.
Crossings of the border areas in China, in addition to having the advantage of the development of border trade and cross-border economic cooperation, it has the more important channels of trade and technological exchanges. In recent years, the increasingly strengthening economic and trade relations between China and Central Asian economic cooperation in this area is full of development potential, and will become important economic blocks of Eurasia. No doubt, and Kazakhstan during which there are still many obstacles, such as customs cooperation, free trade negotiations, railway gauge unified, road links ... and so on, to be solved step by step. This thesis found that the Sino-Kazakh border crossings and trade issues have become important for the political and economic development of China and Kazakhstan.
