However, there are a few studies which focus on the effect of a graduation play toward students’ perception change on English learning. The purpose of this study was to investigate how students’ perception on English learning was influenced, in range of awareness, motivation, proficiency and confidence by doing the rehearsal for a graduation play. The participants were seven English-majored senior university students in Taiwan. During the five months of the rehearsal, the questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and reflections of the rehearsal were carried out for the data collection. The result shows that the perception change was seen on some parts. The participants were aware of the important elements for speaking English by watching others’ speaking in the rehearsal. Some participants’ motivation was promoted. They felt they can speak more smoothly and their pronunciation became better. In addition, their confidence in pronunciation and public speaking were promoted. Noticing about English issues, receiving appropriate advice and repeated practice for the performance affected the participants’ perception in some positive way. From the result, a graduation play can be used to train students’ pronunciation and speaking fluency in an organized speech, and facilitate their motivation on learning English and build their confidence.
